Butterscotch Sauce is great for pouring over just about anything. Try it, hot or cold, over ice cream, cake, pies, puddings, or fresh, stewed or poached fruit
Ingredients
For 1 cup sauce you will need:
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup evaporated milk
2 Tbsp butter or margarine
2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
1/2 cup chopped nuts, raisins or coconut, optional
Directions
Combine sugar, milk, butter, and corn syrup in a medium saucepan. Place over high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
Reduce heat Simmer, stirring, about 6 to 8 minutes until sugar is dissolved and sauce is thickened.
Remove from heat. Cool slightly. Stir in nuts. raisins or coconut, if you like, and serve either warm or cool.
